The Sustainable Journey of Nonuform – with Mats Pettersson, Founder

Behind Nonuform is Mats Pettersson, a business leader with extensive experience in the production sector who understands the potential of aluminium. With this background, Mats has developed Nonuform into a company focused on innovative and sustainable products. His interest in materials and manufacturing processes is central to his work and is reflected in the company's products.

After being inspired by a competition organised by The Swedish Aluminum Association, an idea was born. The competition aimed to highlight the role of aluminium as a material of the future with the potential to improve the environment through proper use, rewarding creativity and innovation. It was this competition that sparked the creation of something new. During the competition, which took place 2007, it was the design duo Hampus Östberg and Patrik Lindberg, also known as WEDO, who came up with the winning design that would become the starting point for Nonuform.

"Nonuform was founded in 2008 with a vision to offer minimalist Swedish design that meets the highest quality standards. The winner of the first prize in the 'AluminiumDesign' competition, our Exilis shelves, perfectly represents this vision. The shelves, which were awarded the prestigious Red Dot Design Award in 2010 for their design, are made from a thin aluminium profile and are designed to fit both home environments and workplaces." – Mats

The Exilis shelves are made from 100% aluminium, and is produced in Sweden, and they are fully recyclable. Their sophisticated design and flexibility make them a popular choice for both homes and public environments, including offices. Unlike materials such as wood, plastic, glass, and cotton, aluminium stands out with its infinite recyclability without losing functionality. Moreover, the energy required for recycling is only 5 percent compared to the production of new primary aluminium. The material quality does not degrade during recycling, allowing aluminium to be recycled repeatedly without limitation.

"A proud moment in the company's history was when our products were selected to be part of the interior design at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne. It was a confirmation of our commitment to innovative design and functionality, demonstrating that our products can be appreciated and used in some of the world's most prestigious environments." – Mats

"As a Swedish company with over 50 years of experience in aluminium, Nonuform understands what it takes to deliver products of the highest quality. They are committed to maintaining high standards in all their operations. 'By using 100% recycled aluminium and minimising waste in our manufacturing process, we strive to create a more sustainable production cycle. We also continually take steps to integrate eco-friendly practices in all aspects of our operations, from design to distribution,' concludes Mats."
